Dr. Spock is so logical and I can’t get enough of Kirk, Suru, Ohara, and Gandalf.

Hahahahahahaha, oh I hope that makes some people angry and they respond without reading the rest of the post (the first part will show up in the blurb on the main page).

I am a massive Trekkie. I love Star Wars. Doctor Who is one of the best sci-fi fantasy shows on television, ever. I love science fiction and fantasy. I love to immerse myself in these universes, whether in a galaxy far, far away, or in the Alpha Quadrant with our own intrepid Starfleet heroes.

I love so much of the fandom, in general, from fan fiction to filk, and all the great artists who create incredible works that I end up putting on my desktop because I just want to look at them over and over again.

What I don’t like from the fandom is the increasing levels of toxicity towards creators, towards actors, actresses, writers, producers, showrunners, and towards other fans. I’m sure if you’ve been steeped in it long enough, you’ve seen examples like this.

Yes, I know, it has always been with us, ever since the first fandom got together and said Ung painted the best rocks in the tribe, and then someone said that’s not real rock, it’s a cheap knockoff.

Still, the merging of the incel movements and fandoms once dominated by men has created such an absurd and dangerous playing field for anyone who just loves their favorite shows and want to get involved in them beyond watching them on TV and in the movies.

I just finished watching both Ahsoka, and The Acolyte this past week. If you don’t know, those are Star Wars shows streaming on Disney Plus, since Disney owns the Star Wars franchise these days.

I considered them very well done, and enjoyed each series immensely. The thing is, both shows heavily feature not only women, but women of color, and I’m sure you can guess what the response has been online from particularly male centered corners of the fandom.

If you guessed “this isn’t real Star Wars,” and “Kathleen Kennedy is killing Star Wars,” you’d be right. These fucking little assholes who need a bath and a shove off a tall building want so badly to be the arbiters of what is and isn’t real fandom, and it’s so goddamn toxic they drive away new fans, and it’s infuriating.

Go on Reddit, also known as Satan’s armpit, and you’ll see dozens of posts a day about how “woke” is ruining Star Wars, Star Trek, whatever your favorite franchise is, and even if you leave Reddit, you’ll find it on various fora, on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, and Youtube, with some podcasters posting two, three, even four hour long screeds about why their favorite science fiction movie/tv franchise/video game is terrible now because the protagonists have tits and they’re not waving them at the menfolk.

These people are the turds in the ointment that ruin so many fandoms, and they infect every aspect of entertainment that someone might enjoy, whether it’s music, movies, TV, video games, anything where someone other than a straight, white, male might want to actually invest their time and energy.

I’m tired of them. I’m sick and tired of them, and if they all disappeared, that would be great. Let them be devoured by the Sun, that would be awesome to watch.

Am I being a little overboard? I don’t think so, I mean, after all, I’m all about logic and reason, rationality, something filthy casuals wouldn’t understand, you know what I mean, wink wink nudge nudge?

We really do need to push these goobers out of our spaces, because this is all of our space, and if they won’t play nice, they get pushed the fuck out. Don’t be nice to them, don’t kowtow to them, don’t flatter them, don’t be silent around them, because that’s what these privileged little barnacle dildos are used to, and they don’t deserve your respect.

Fuck these motherfuckers, we don’t need them, we shouldn’t want them around, and before some incel inhales to rebut this post (lol fuck you, choke on a bottle of laxative coated quaaludes), I’m not saying you can’t dislike aspects of a franchise. There are shows I don’t like very well, there are creative decisions I think were grievous mistakes, but I don’t make it my personality, and I sure as shit don’t take it out on everyone else, I just move on from it, like stable human beings do.

I just wanted to say something about it, because having watched these two Star Wars shows, having watched Star Trek: Discovery and hearing a *constant* bleating about how Michael Burnham was a Mary Sue, or how Alex Kurtzman was pissing on Star Trek’s memory, I’m just tired of hearing it from the whiners and the perpetually aggrieved over a franchise. Over a story. Over media.

Send these fuckers into space without suits. We deserve better in the fandom.

Also, watch Ahsoka and The Acolyte. They’re wonderful!
